Rampur, situated at an altitude of 924 meters above sea level is one of the important commercial centers of Himachal Pradesh. During 18th century, at the time of the rule of Bushahr Empire, Rampur was used as the capital city. This place is located on the banks of the river Sutlej. There is an ancient route from here to Tibet, China, Ladakh and Afghanistan.

 

Lavi Fair conducted during the second week of November every year in Rampur is one of the biggest fairs of North India and this is held for three days. Many tradesmen and craftsmen attend this fair and various commercial products like shawls, blankets, fruits and handicraft items are sold here. The trading of livestock is also conducted.

 

Rampur is famous for its wooden handicrafts and clay sculptures and handspun blankets called Rampuri Chaddar. The places of visit in Rampur are Dutt Nagar, Nirath, Nirmand, Ragunath Temple, Narsingh Temple, Dumgir Budh Temple, Sri Sat Nahan Temple and the Padam Palace.
