It would be safe to say that you can look forward to some of the most beautiful sights that you have ever seen till date; there is a bounteous natural beauty that lies in every corner of the place. The place can be easily called as a photographer’s delight as there is no other place in the world that will provide you with so many variations at one time.

The quiet and peaceful town of Pahalgam that is a paradise for the urban tourists who relax and unwind here takes a complete turn for change in the winter months. The place is a complete ski destination in the months of heavy snow. This is also the base camp for several trekking and hiking excursions in the neighboring regions. This is also a point for the route to the holy shrine at Amarnath Cave.

You can travel and see the amazing Kolahoi Glacier which is also referred to as the hanging glacier. This is located in the Lidder Valley at the foot of Mount Kolohoi. There are some of the most amazing views that one can get here and even trek along the route. However the glacier is extremely unsafe as the ice is melting and receding thus resulting in cracks and crevices within.

You can also travel to the nearby village of Aru, Chandanwari and Panchatarni. The last name is the meeting place of five streams. There is a beautiful locale of a meadow at Baisaran and the Tulian Lake in close proximity. These are all places where you can head for small excursions and day trips during your stay at Pahalgam.

The common wildlife that is seen here is that of bears. Tourists, trekkers, campers and villagers alike are always on a constant alert about bears. There are monkeys that are also seen here along with a wide variety of birds. As part of your holiday trips to Pahalgam you can spend time horse riding and playing golf here. There are arrangements of accommodation available from private hotels and resorts. There is also a very systematic system of tents and cottages available from the tourism department.

There is no airport or railway station here at Pahalgam. The nearest airport is at Srinagar. However there is a well developed system of buses and taxis available commonly and frequently. You can also make reservations from several cities like Delhi where these travel companies have their outlets for bookings and information.
