Matheran is the smallest hill station in India located on the Western Ghats. The Ministry of Environment and Forest has announced this as the eco-sensitive region and so vehicles are not allowed here. The peaceful environment attracts thousands of visitors all through the year.
The only mode of transport in Matheran is a narrow gauge railway built in 1907. There are about 28 points of interest here and 2 lakes, 2 parks and 4 places of worship are situated here.
