The beautiful destination of Mcleodgunj is located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. This is a suburb of Dharmsala in the district of Kangra of the state. The geographical situation of the place is at the peak of the Dhauladhar Range and is also well known for the present day location of the exiled government of Tibet. This is also the present official address of Dalai Lama.

There are several aspects of the life and culture of Mcleodgunj that is of immense interest among tourists. The local life here and its pattern is a colorful and interesting one and that can be seen quite effervescently through their handicrafts and weaves with a riot of colors and different patterns. You can buy some of the most interesting items of carpets and rugs along with clothes and collectibles of different kinds.

Tourists can also visit some of the well known Buddhist temples and Tibetan sites that are there is Mcleodgunj. There is the Tibetan institute of performing arts and several monasteries in the regions. Chiefly known among these is the Namgyal monastery, the Gompa Dip Tse-Chok Ling, Mani Lakang Stupa and Nechung monastery. There are also a couple of art galleries like Naam art gallery and Peak Art gallery. There are periodic exhibitions of art and paintings that are held here. There are many places of interest that are located in close proximity of Mcleodgunj. People take short trips to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of these places. There are places like Dharamsala, Palampur, Kangra and Machhrial among others. Then there is Triund which is a popular destination for excursion trekking trips. A neo-gothic styled Church that goes by the name of St. John in the Wilderness is a popular destination for people. a small lake that’s known as Dal Lake is also a popular and very beautiful destination for visitors.

You can be at Mcleodgunj for most part of the year as there is a pleasant climate here all the year through. But the best time to visit the place would be the months from July to September. There are accommodation arrangements available at the government guest houses and small private hotels. Arrangements and facilities are available at different rates and budgets and there is choice for everyone that comes here.

Mcleodgunj is easily accessible from different parts of the country. The nearest airport is at Gaggla and the nearest railway station is at Pathankot. There is an extensive network of roads that can be an easy means of reaching the place as well. there are a number of deluxe bus services available that will be a comfortable mode of reaching from different parts of the country.
