Arappalayam is situated on the banks of the river and is also known as the Pittukku Mann Sumantha Thiruthalam. There are many Hindu temples in this area namely Puttu Thoppu Kovil, Railway Colony Selva Vinayagar Kovil, Vaigai Perumal Kovil and Vaigai Anchaneyar Kovil.
