The Academy of Fine Arts was established in 1933 and it was originally functioning within the premises of the Indian Museum. Later it was shifted to the larger space in the Cathedral Road with the initiatives of the then Chief Minister of West Bengal B.C. Roy. The exhibitions are conducted here in the verandah of the building every year.
