Perched at 1500 meters above sea level, the beautiful hill station, Kohima has a wide spectrum of tourist attractions to its credit. The land is blessed with a charming landscape that appeals to all who visit the place. Kohima is hemmed in by the hills on all sides. The place is renowned for being the venue, of the battle of Kohima. It is a great turning point as the battle changed the face of this little hill station. Kohima enjoys a moderate and temperate climate all through the year. The Himalayan Mountain range forming the backdrop enhances the beauty of the place culminating into serene and pristine environs. It is a pollution free place and this renders the tourist calmness and tranquillity magnified. The habits, customs, costumes and lifestyle of the local inhabitants will leave the tourist stupefied. Getting there is easy and you can use the road, railway or airway.

A number of tourist places lies within the vicinity of Kohima. Some of the prominent ones are Nagaland State Museum, Sales Emporium, Zoological Park, Khonoma, Intangki Wildlife Sanctuary, World War II Cemetery, Catholic Cathedral etc. In the months between October and April, you will find Kohima in glory undefined.

The Nagaland State Museum exhibits a large collection of weapons, jewellery, sculptures, costumes all traditional, which will help tourist to gain an insight into the culture and history of the place. The World War II cemetery is the burial ground of the soldiers who died fighting. The amazing ranges of flora and fauna specific to the state of Nagaland are found housed at the Zoological Park. While at Kohima, one should not miss the opportunity of visiting the Catholic Cathedral. An ambience of serenity and calmness rules the place whose major attraction is the architectural structure. Located at the top of the Aradura Hill the place is worth a trip. Kohima is flanked by a large number of shopping areas where one can indulge in shopping. A large number of items that are distinctive of the place can be found here. There are several items which can be bought back as souvenir and which will serve as a constant reminder of the place you have visited.

Kohima is not as well renowned as a tourist spot in India, however a visit to this land will surely leave you engrossed.  Once here you will be abundantly showered by nature’s bounty.
