The beautiful hill station of Gulmarg is located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. This beautiful meadow of flowers is located in the Baramula district of the state. In close proximity to the state capital of Srinagar Gulmarg is situated at a height of 8825 feet.  The reasons for its popularity among tourists is evident when you see the place resplendent in its beauty with snow capped peaks all around it. It makes for some of the most spectacular sights in the world.

This is also well known as a popular destination for heli-skiing. This is also a place for various adventure sports. There is an active skiing season that commences from November and continues through till February. You will be able to acquire all kinds of accessories and gear for skiing here as they available both for sale and on hire. You can also enjoy some of the best golf courses that are available here. There are several of them located at different places and open for a game.

But for all those people who are not exactly here to play can simply soak in to the depth of the natural beauty of Gulmarg. There are long walks that can be an interesting means of exploring the place and seeing its beauty in closeness. Take a walk through the forests of pine trees and the gorgeous landscapes or even the magnificence of the surrounding Nanga Parbat and the Haramukh.

The nearest airport is at Srinagar and from here there are regular flights that are in operation to different parts of the country. The nearest railway station is at Jammu. The altitude of the location of Gulmarg makes the place one with a pleasant climate and thus makes this an enticing destination at all times of the year. While the winter months of the year see snowfall and turns the place into a ski resort the summer months sees a huge influx of tourists escaping the plains and retreating to the blissful hill station.
