Digha is predominantly a weekend tourist spot. It is one of the most popular and frequented sea resorts in the state of West Bengal.  Originally known as “Beerkul”, the beauty of Digha emanates from the wide beach of the Bay of Bengal. It is the most favoured destinations for families wanting to spend a pleasant and memorable weekend in the lap of nature. Digha is a small town the ambience of which generates a feeling of warmth and calmness in the mind. It is indeed a great retreat from the frenzy of urban lifestyle.  In addition to the exotic sea beach which is Digha’s main attraction, it also has within its confines several museums, religious temples, hi-tech research centre etc. No doubt Digha draws a large number of tourists every year.

Digha is flanked by a number of tourist spots. Shankarpur, Chandaneswar, Marine Aquarium and Research Centre, New Digha, Talsheri, Amravati Lake etc are some of the sightseeing places noted for their own unique features.

At a distance of approximately 14kms from Digha lies the Shankarpur Fishing Harbour. It is basically a twin beach of Digha the temperate climate of which makes up for a perfect holiday. The alluring sea beach creating an ambience of peace and ecstasy in the mind is sure to intoxicate your senses and keep you glued to its beauty for hours end. 8 km drive from Digha will bring you to Chandaneswar, the domicile of a temple of Lord Shiva that dates back to many years. The month of Chaitra sees a large number of people in its precincts. If you intend to know something about the marine life of the region no other place can best enlighten you than the Marine Aquarium and Research Centre. As one of the largest inbuilt marine aquarium in the country it well informs and educate the tourist in all spheres of aquatic life. New Digha is just 2 km away from the old one. Once here you will come across a number of tourist spots. There is a Science center established by the National Council of Science Museum which is a great centre for learning and gaining information. The Amravati Lake lies in the heart of New Digha, providing opportunity to the tourist to enjoy boating. There is a dense forest of sal, nut tree, tamarisk which is popularly known as the Talsheri. The place is noted for its thick forest and diverse variety of trees.

Digha tourist attractions also include places like Tamralipta-a naval port, temple of Bargabhima, Shri. Ramakrishna Mission, Tamralipta Museum, Lankeshwari Temple, Kapal Kundal Temple and Shiva Temple.
