Yathish Chandra Biography

Yathish Chandra is an Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer based in Davangere, Karnataka. His full name is GH Yathish Chandra. Currently he is Kerala Cadre IPS officer working in Thrissur as Police Commissioner. He came to limelight when he was posted as special officer in charge at Nilakkal region, Sabarimala. BJP is riled with this IPS officer as the party feels he was ‘rude’ to its leaders protesting at Sabarimala but was soft on Congress leaders. After he created a controversy for being out of line with Union minister of state for finance, Pon Radhakrishnan at the base camp, Dabangg style IPS officer in Kerala has a huge fan following crowd in Kerala right now.

Yathish Chandra hails from Davangere, Karnataka. He was born on June 6, 1986. His father Halappa worked as a government servant in Karnataka. Mother Sidha Gangamma is a housemaker. He is single child to his parents. During his academic years his dream was to earn a good job with good salary, and he also completed Engineering in Electronics and Communication. Through campus selection he got appointed at Motorolo in Bangalore, where he worked for two years. Later he joined MBA in a dream to go abroad, and also decided to try a hand in civil services.

Interestingly he didn’t even have basic knowledge about IPS till then. He was ignorant of the ranks of police officers also. He sought the help of internet to know what to prepare and where to compete to get a job with particular rank. For civil service exams he took geography as the main subject. He didn’t leave his job or attended coaching classes. Internet and YouTube were his study tools. In his first time he was far behind, and he didn’t attempt next year. He made good preparations for the third time and got 211^th rank in general merit. Though he got selected to Karnataka police almost at the same time, he decided to join IPS.
