Vyjayanthi Kashi Biography 
Vyjayanthi Kashi is a Kuchipudi dancer and choreographer from Bangalore. Her daughter Prateeksha Kashi has also gained fame and popularity in the same field at a very young age. Her husband Vijaya Kashi is a television and theatre artist, and has acted in 65 movies in Kannada. She comes from the family of Dr. Gubbi Veeranna. Kashi is the artistic director of a dance school known as Shambhavi School of Dance, where she teaches numerous students. She is the former chairperson of Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy.
Vyjayanthi Kashi was born in Karnataka to J. M. Vishwanth and G. V. Girijamma. Initially she learnt Bharatnatyam under Ramanna of Tumkur since the age of 6. She was not interested in dance at first and took to theatre. She worked with filmmaker T. S. Nagabharana in cine industry before she got married. Later she got married to Kannada actor, Vijaya Kashi, who she met while acting in theatre. After marriage she worked in bank for a while and finally left it to turn a full-fledged dancer.
She had learnt Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Temple Ritual Dances from an early age from different gurus. Yet she started dancing Kuchipudi again at the age of 30 only. Kashi's distinct style dominated the performance and helped her to create a space of her own. She is also a film and television artist, and has also worked as a dance educator and therapist. She has choreographed numerous dance pieces and her students have performed on stage. She is currently a member of Kendra Sahitya Academy who earlier served as Chairperson of Karnataka Sangeet Nritya Academy. She is a top grade performing artist of Doordarshan.
