V. T. Balram Biography

V. T. Balram is a young politician from the state of Kerala. He is a Congress politician who currently serves as MLA of Thrithala Constituency since May 2011. He has retained his seat in 2016 state assembly elections, and currently in his second term. He is one of the highly educated political leaders from Kerala, yet known for his outspoken character. He has been a part of several controversies, yet always remains firm with his ideology quite different from others. It makes him an exceptional young leader.

V. T. Balram hails from Thrithala, Palakkad District, Kerala. He is married to Anupama Balram and has two kids. He schooled from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Palakkad, and while doing his graduation at Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur he served as University Union Councillor. Later he completed B.Tech (Electric and Electronic Engineering) from Government Engineering College, Thrissur followed by LLB at Government Law College, Thrissur. He spent most of his academic years at Thrissur. He also completed MBA from Calicut University. He was quite active in politics since his college days and has served many elite positions as a youth leader.

As a leader he is known for his strong oppose of Hindutva and Communist ideologies. He successfully contested state assembly elections in 2011 for the first time from Thrithala and retained the seat in 2016 state assembly elections as well. He remained in controversies always. Following a beef ban in India, he protested by eating beef with his friends and sharing the video on social media. Interestingly he has been a vegetarian for past 19 years. In 2018, he accused late communist leader A. K. Gopalan for child abuse. His son was admitted at a government school, without filling caste and religion columns in the admission form.
