V. D. Satheesan Biography

V. D. Satheesan is an influential politician from the state of Kerala, associated with Indian National Congress. Currently he is a Member of Kerala Legislative Assembly from North Paravur constituency, Ernakulam. A law graduate, he has been practicing in Kerala High Court before joining active politics. He joined Kerala state assembly for the first time in 2001 while he was practising law, and after that he got active in state politics. Now it’s his fourth consecutive term as MLA of North Paravur. He is also one of the six vice president of KPCC, Kerala wing of Congress party.

V. D. Satheesan was born in Varapuzha of Ernakulam district, on 31 May 1964. Nettoor is his native village. K. Dhamodara Menon and V. Vilasini Amma are his parents. Satheesan is married and has one daughter. He completed his graduation and post-graduation degrees before joining Law studies at Thiruvananthapuram Kerala Law Academy Law College and LL.M from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram. He started practising in law at Kerala High Court before he got into politics.

He has been involved with students’ politics right from his school days. He was Chairman of the MG University Union representing Kerala Students Union. Currently he is the fourth term representative of North Paravur in the Assembly. He has been elected to state assembly in 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016 state elections, and has never loss any. He is an active trade union worker, who currently serves as the president of a dozen of workers’ associations. Most of these associations are spread in the industrial and highly commercial belt of Kochi. Trekking and reading are his favourite hobbies.
