Tushar Raheja Biography

Tushar Raheja is an Indian writer best known as a story teller. He is also a researcher based in Delhi. His first book - Anything for you, Ma'am was published in the year 2006 while he was an undergrad student and was a bestseller. His works are often compared to P. G. Wodehouse. He is dedicated to mathematical research and the study of narration. He published his second book, Romi and Gang (also known as Run Romi Run) in the year 2013 and received positive responses. Currently Raheja is a doctoral candidate at IIT Delhi in the field of Applied Probability.

 

Raheja was born and brought up at Faridabad. He was born in the year 1984. Both his parents are doctors. Raheja did his schooling from Apeejay School and DPS Faridabad. Later he took B. Tech. in Industrial Engineering from IIT Delhi. His first book was published the same year he completed his B. Tech degree. After B Tech, he did research in applied mathematics and completed Masters of Science in Operations Research in 2010. His research interests include the study of Nash Equilibrium models.

 

After the first book, he shot to fame and his work was praised by The Hindu and The Times of India. The Times of India compared the plot to a classic Jeeves Wooster saga. But its climax was criticized as it resembled a Bollywood movie. Romi and Gang caught readers’ attention for its innocence and nostalgic feelings. Hindustan Times called it 'the equivalent to watching Lagaan', and it’s the story of a boy who dreams to become the next Sachin Tendulkar. This book also included 25 full page pen and ink illustrations by Biswajit Das. He shot a non-commercial short film Sachin Sachin, for the promotion of Romi and Gang.
