Tejasvi Surya Biography

Tejasvi Surya is an Indian politician belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party, who got elected to parliament in 2019 general elections. Thus at the age of 28, he became the youngest parliamentarian of BJP ever. A strong supporter of Hindutva he believes in the pride of Indian culture. Vir Savarkar, Aurobindo, BR Ambedkar and Swami Vivekananda remain his inspirational historic figures, who shaped his way of thinking and ideologies. He is an RSS swayamsevak and supports legalising same-sex marriage. He is the founder of NGO - Arise India which works in rural development and education, which directly gives positive inputs to vote banks.

L. Suryanarayana Tejasvi, better known as Tejasvi Surya was born on 16 November 1990 in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. Rama and Dr. L.A. Suryanarayana are his parents. As a school kid Tejasvi is a recipient of National Balashree Honour in 2001. He holds an LLB degree. His political career began in association with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad during his academic years, and later became the General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He led Digital Communications Team of Karnataka BJP during the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election, which earned him national wide appreciation and also a seat at upcoming Lok Sabha elections. R. Ashoka and V. Somanna are his mentors in political career.

He contested Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore South, the seat previously owned by Union minister Ananth Kumar, who passed away in November 2018. He has been holding the seat since 1996. Tejasvi Surya was one of the leaders of BJP's ‘Mangalore Chalo’ rally in 2017 and has taken legal cases of several BJP leaders involving corruption. There have been multiple allegations against him for sexist remarks against women.
