T. U. Kuruvilla Biography 
T. U. Kuruvilla is an Indian politician from Oonjappara, Kothamangalam, Kerala belonging to Kerala Congress (Mani). Dr. Kuruvilla served as Public Works Minister (PWD) in V.S.Achuthananthan Ministry for a short period. He has been elected to Kerala state assembly consecutively for three terms - 2001, 2006 and 2011 from Kothamangalam constituency. Apart from MLA, he currently serves as the Secretary, Baselios Paulose II Catholicos College and many more educational institutions. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of Kerala Congress (M) at present. His family has been accused of an alleged illegal land deal at Munnar in Idukki district though T.U. Kuruvilla has refuted allegations against him.
He was born at Oonjappara, Kothamangalam in 1936. He completed a Diploma in Civil Engineering and he is also known as a businessman and agriculturist. He joined active politics in the mid-1960s. He served as the Panchayat president of Keerampara in Eranakulam district for fourteen years since 1964. President of Keerampara Service Co-Operative Society, Chairman of Block Development Committee, Kothamangalam, Chairman of Plantation Corporation of Kerala and the chairman of the Kerala State Housing Board are other major decorative positions held by Kuruvila.
In 2006 state assembly elections he defeated Congress candidate V. J. Paulose in Kothamangalam constituency and joined Achuthanandan’s ministry as minister for Public works. He was chosen to that position following the allegations on PWD minister P.J. Joseph for his misbehaviour with a woman co-passenger of a flight surfaced. He replaced Joseph’s position. But he lost the position following Munnar land deal episode. Kuruvila has served as the Lay Secretary of Syriac Orthodox Church for many years.
