Sorabh Pant Biography

Sorabh Pant is a popular stand-up comedian and performer from Mumbai. He is also known as a writer. Dubbed by Cine star Hrithik Roshan as "the funniest guy on stage", he has been rated amongst India's top 10 stand-up comedians by The Times of India. Till now he has done over 500 shows in over 30 cities, which include Dhaka, Singapore, Abu Dhabi etc. One of his popular shows - Pant on Fire, has been staged in 10 cities. He has authored one comic fictional book - 'The Wednesday Soul', a fictitious and comic take on life after death. It took 5 years for its completion.

 

East India Comedy – a group of stand-up comedians was founded by Sorabh Pant in 2012 along with other comedians. The group claims to be India's busiest comedy company right now. Sapan Verma, Sahil Shah, Atul Khatri, Azeem Banatwalla and Kunal Rao are the other members of the group. His impersonation of communities, which audience identifies as their story, has been a very successful mark of his career. This talented comedian, known for his incredible energy believes that his childhood has helped him a lot to become a comedian. He was a fat boy while at school, which used to grab attention of others.

 

He was born in Mumbai on 14 September 1981. He started off as a writer. His first comedy show was in association with Vir Das in 2008. They together did a standup comedy show 'News on The Loose' on CNBC-TV18. He also appeared in Vir Das's show, 'Walking on Broken Das’ the same year, which proved to be the real break of his career. In 2009, with his first solo show, "Pant on Fire”, he emerged as one among the best standup comedians of present times.
