Sindhu Joy Biography

Sindhu Joy is a young politician from Kerala. She has been a young youth leader of communist party earlier and later joined Indian National Congress. Sindhu was a full-time member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) from 1992 to 2011. Now she has resigned from Congress party as well and has taken a break from social and political life. Most recently she participated in Malayalam version of television reality show, Big Boss - Malayalee House where she finished one among the third finalists. She has served as All India Vice-President of SFI, a prominent students' organisation in Kerala. Sindhu Joy was the only female president in the history of SFI Kerala State Committee.

She is well known for competing against top political leaders of Kerala. She has contested as a Left Democratic Front candidate against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy from the Puthupally Assembly constituency in 2006 and also for Member of Parliament against Central Minister K. V. Thomas in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Ernakulam Constituency. That particular contest was bit to bit contest where Thomas finally won it after a lot of suspense and drama! She gained appreciation and attention even from her arch rivals though she was the failed candidate.

Sindhu’s schooling and graduation were completed from Ernakulam. She completed M.Phil, Ph.D and Post Doctoral Research from Kerala University. Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications are other educational degrees. She has been a prominent Students Federation of India leader since college days. She has led numerous protests in Kerala on various educational issues. In 2005, she was badly hurt after a grenade was hurled by police at a protest at the capital city. Now she is one of the well known young political leaders of Kerala.
