Saurabh Bhardwaj Biography

Saurabh Bhardwaj is an Indian politician who is a member of Aam Aadmi Party. He currently serves as the MLA of Greater Kailash constituency in the Delhi State Legislature. Former cabinet minister of Delhi assembly, he is a popular young leader in state politics. He has been elected twice to Delhi state assembly, and has served as the minister of Food & Supply, Transport, Environment and GAD ministries during his first term. The computer engineer-turned-politician, who worked with some of the top multinationals for around a decade joined AAP at the age of 38.

Saurabh Bhardwaj hails from capital city of India, New Delhi. His schooling was completed at Delhi itself. He completed Computer Engineering from Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering in 2003, and also took his law degree from Osmania University in 2011. Before he began his political career worked with Johnson Controls India, and later worked with IT industry for a while. He has worked in the US and the UK, and his expertise is in microchips and coding.

Since his early phase in political journey, Saurabh Bhardwaj is known among colleagues for his suave appearance and oratory skills. In 2014 Assembly polls, he won the much influential Greater Kailash constituency by more than 13,000 votes. As a reward, Bhardwaj was made a Cabinet minister by the chosen CM Kejriwal in his first tenure, which lasted only 49 days. The party was going through its lowest phase when Bhardwaj was roped in for cabinet. When the party came back to power for the second time they had 67 MLAs, and Bhardwaj didn’t get Cabinet power because there were more MLAs in the party who had more experience.
