Sandesh Kadur Biography

Sandesh Kadur is a Wildlife Film Maker and Conservation Photographer. He is also known as National Geographic Explorer. He is best known for his contributions to Planet Earth II, a 2016 British nature documentary series produced by the BBC as a sequel to Planet Earth. His documentaries are shown in some of the leading television channels across the world, dedicated to wild life and geography. He is a Senior Fellow of The International League of Conservation Photographers. He co-founded Felis Creations a visual arts company based in Bangalore, which emphasis on both documentaries and still photography.

 

Sandesh Kadur was born in Bangalore, Karnataka on 19 November 1976. His early days were spent in his hometown where he completed his schooling. During his childhood days he enjoyed watching nature and its beauty. On one birthday his father presented him an SLR film camera and a bundle of National Geographic films, which changed his life forever. He was also motivated by his father to fulfil his dreams. He extensively travelled Western Ghats and the Himalayas, and other parts of the country and continued his journey as a wildlife photographer. He also graduated in Wildlife Biology from The University of Texas at Brownsville.

 

As a part of academic studies, he made a short documentary titled Treasures of South Texas in 1999. In 2000 he directed a TV series, Destination Nature. In 2002 he made a feature documentary titled Sahyadris - Mountains of the Monsoon, which received Special Jury Award for Wildlife Conservation and Green Oscar nominee BBC Newcomer of the Year award. Over the years his works have been appreciated at various award functions and featured in National Geographic Channel, BBC, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet multiple times.
