Sada Sarvankar Biography

Sada Sarvankar is an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra. He is a Shiv Sena leader from Dadar, Mumbai and an influential member within state politics. He is a Maharashtra Legislative Assembly since 2014 and he was elected from Mahim Assembly Constituency. He had been elected to Maharashtra state assembly for two terms in 2004 and 2014. During state assembly elections in 2009, he contested as a candidate of Indian National Congress and got defeated by Nitin Sardesai, fielded by Thackerey’s MNS. He joined INC because he was denied a Siva Sena ticket in the assembly elections.

Sada Sarvankar was born into a mill worker's family in Maharashtra with a socio-cultural legacy. He currently resides in Prabhadevi, Mumbai. Shankar Gunaji Saravankar is his father. His wife is a homemaker. He got elected to Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha for the first time in 2004 as a candidate of Siva Sena. He was given a party ticket from Mahim Assembly Constituency. However he was denied a party ticket in 2009 elections and he changed his political affiliation to Congress. It was for the first time Maharashtra Navnirman Sena contested state assembly elections after its formation in 2006. Thackerey’s college mate, business partner and friend Nitin Sardesai was fielded in Mahim Assembly while Sada contested as a candidate of INC and lost to Nitin. The decision to field Sada Sarvankar as a Congress candidate upset many members of the Congress in Maharashtra also.

Before the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections in 2014 he returned to Shiv Sena and once again contested from Mahim Assembly Constituency. This time he defeated the sitting MLA Nitin Sardesai of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. However in the affidavits submitted by the candidates to the Election Commission, Sada Sarvankar was among the candidates with highest number of criminal cases. It includes an attempt to murder too.
