Rashmi Bansal Biography

Rashmi Bansal is a noted young Indian English author best known for the bestsellers– ‘Stay Hungry Stay Foolish’, ‘Connect the Dots’, ‘I Have a Dream’, ‘Poor Little Rich Slum’, ‘Follow Every Rainbow’ and ‘Take Me Home’. She is an IIM-A class of 1993 graduate. Her celebrated work - ‘Stay Hungry Stay Foolish’ features the stories of 25 MBA graduates from IIM Ahmedabad who chose the new path of starting new business leaving behind their high-profile jobs. The book sold over 350,000 copies and has been translated into 8 languages. Her second book, Connect the Dots – is about 20 non-MBA entrepreneurs in India. The book was shortlisted for The Economist Crossword Popular Award 2010.

 

Her third book’ I Have a Dream’, the best non-fiction Indian book in 2011 was based on social entrepreneurs, and the book got shortlisted for The Economist Crossword Popular Award once again.  Her latest book, "Follow Every Rainbow" gives the inspiring stories of 25 successful women entrepreneurs. Her books on entrepreneurs in India, written in ‘Hinglish’ have sold more than half a million copies so far and have been translated to many languages. She is a popular motivational speaker at youth conferences.

 

She started writing while at college. Her first work was a humorous column published in 1988 in the ‘Indian Post’ newspaper. After completion of MBA from IIM Ahmedabad she joined the Times of India as a brand manager. In 1995, with the help of a few friends and her husband Yatin, she started JAM, a magazine exclusively for youth. She got the idea to write on the experiences on Indian entrepreneurs from Professor Rakesh Basant of IIM Ahmedabad. The book got published in 2008 and there was no turning back. She went on to publish a series of real experiences and success stories of Indian entrepreneurs which were warmly welcomed by public.
