Rangeya Raghav Biography

Rangeya Raghav was a prominent Hindi writer of 20^th century, who lived during the period, 17 January 1923 – 12 September 1962. He came to prominence as a novelist in the mid-1900s. Kab tak pukaroon and Murdon Ka Teela are among his celebrated novels. Apart from novels, he has also published short story collections, plays and many more works. He was short-lived and lived only 39 years. Started writing at the age of 13, he contributed some of the best works of Hindi literature in the 20^th century. Rangey Raghav Inter College in Ambedkar Nagar District of UP is named after him.

Rangeya Raghav was born on 17 January 1923 in Agra in British India, now a part of Uttar Pradesh. He started writing at the age of 13 years. Since young he won many prizes for his literary career. He was married to Sulochana Rangeya Raghava. His wife currently lives in Jaipur, and was retired as an Associate Professor of Sociology in the University Of Rajasthan. Rangeya published his early book, Toofaanon Ke Beech in 1944. His first novel Gharaunda was published in 1946, followed by Murdon Ka Teela, Kab Tak Pukaarun, Dharti Mera Ghar, Rah Na Ruki, Kaka, Ratna Ki Baat, Devaki Ka Beta, Loyi Ka Taanaa, Cheevar, Akhiri Awas and many more.

He completed his post-graduation studies from St. John’s College, Agra and later completed his PhD. He did his research work on Guru Gorakhnath and his times, to complete his research studies. His famous novel, Kab tak pukaroon was made a television serial on Doordarshan. He has authored some plays such as Ramanuj, Swargabhumi Ka Yatri, Viruddhak, Aakhiree Dhava and Hatim Mar gayaa, and also short story collections such as Samudra Ke Fen and Nayee Jindagi Ke Liye among the others.
