R. Krishnaiah Biography

R. Krishnaiah is an Indian politician from Telangana and a member of Congress party. He was a member of 1^st Telangana legislative assembly during the period, 2014-2018 representing L. B. Nagar. As a social worker he is best known for his fights for the rights of Backward Classes and their upliftment in standard of living. He strives for their reservation in different fields including politics, job and studies. For this purpose he has led several agitations and protests against Andhra government as well as central government.  

Ryaga Krishnaiah was born on 13 September 1954 in Rangareddy district, Telangana. He belongs to a rich landlord family linked to agriculture. He lost his mother at the age of 12 and father at the age of 14. He holds MA and LLB degrees. He is married to Shabari Devi, and has one son and one daughter. His son is a doctor by profession. As a social leader he turned an activist in the early 1970s. During his academic years he was elected as a President of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Castes Hostels Student Union in 1972. He was a student leader during his academic years, and has led several agitations for the social justice.

In 1977 he was elected as the state level President, and he fought for poor students belonging to Backward Castes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes. He continued with his campaign for next one decade. Currently he serves as the President of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Backward Classes welfare association, and is fighting for 50% reservation for Backward Classes in judiciary. Implementation of Nachiyappan commission recommendations with the central government is among his agendas.
