Prathiba Hari Biography

Prathiba Hari is an Indian politician from Kerala. She currently serves as the MLA of Kayamkulam constituency of Kerala representing CPI (Marxist). She is indeed popular among the masses for her power-packed speeches and deeply influenced them through her style. She is a social worker who has been successfully associated with social issues like Pampa campaign and an advocate by profession. Her first term in Kerala Legislative Assembly, she has earlier served as Alapuzha District Panchayat President and also President of Thakazhy Grama Panchayat, before she stood as LDF candidate for 2016 state elections. She was one of the 8 women who made it to KLA in 2016.

Advocate U. Prathiba Hari was born on 10 May 1977 to V. K. Purushothaman. Thakzhy Village of Alapuzha District is her birthplace. She is married to K. R. Hari since February 2001 and the couple has one son studying in class 8. Hari is an overseer with KSEB, Nilambur of Malappuram district. Most recently MLA has moved to a family court seeking a divorce with her husband.

Prathiba Hari earned fame as a social worker since young. Her social activities are mostly concentrated to her home district, Alapuzha. She has been associated with Pampa (Varattar) campaign and numerous nature preservation programs, which made her popular among the masses. She was one of the youngest Panchayat presidents of Alapuzha district. It’s mere co-incidence that she played a small role of a Panchayat President, wife of Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai in a short film called Newspaper Boy, that too because of her cousins’ compulsion.

She became a Panchayat member, while studying at college and later became Panchayat president. In between she took a small break from political life and joined law. In 2016 state assembly elections, she beat UDF candidate by 11857 votes.
