Prafulla Dahanukar Biography 
Prafulla Dahanukar is one of the leading contemporary female painter artists from India. She was born in Goa and raised in Mumbai and has completed 55 years in the world of colours and lines. Apart from India she has conducted art exhibitions and participated in many competitions in many foreign countries like England, Hungary, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, Japan, Portugal, Iceland and France. Her collections have been included in National Gallery of Modern Art and Lalit Kala Academy in New Delhi, the Central Museum in Nagpur and many institutions.
Prafulla was born in the year 1934 in Goa. She studied from Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai and graduated with a Gold Medal in 1955. Prafulla won a Silver Medal for her painting in the Annual Exhibition of the Bombay Art Society after the completion of her graduation. Since 1956, she started giving her solo painting exhibitions. She also conducted exhibitions in many European countries and other parts of world. In 1961 she received a scholarship from French government to study fine art in Paris. After completion of course, she returned back to India.
She continued conducting art exhibitions and gained popularity. She has conducted three solo exhibitions in London. Her exhibitions have been sponsored by High Commission of India in 1978 and Citibank in 2006. Her paintings have been featured in Sotheby’s and Osean art auctions. She was a committee member of the Lalit Kala Academy in New Delhi from 1974 to 1979, and the President of Bombay Art Society from 1993 to 1998. At present, she is a trustee of the Jehangir Art Gallery and committee member of Kala Academy, Goa. In 2007, she was honoured by the Jehangir Art Gallery by sponsoring the retrospective show of her painting belonging to the past 5 decades.
