P. Vetrivel Biography

P. Vetriivel is a very noted politician and social worker from Tamil Nadu. A prominent leader associated with the regional party, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, he was Member of the 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar Constituency in Chennai District. He resigned as member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in 2015, to pave way for Chief Minister to contest as an MLA from his constituency. He is in his late 50s now.

Currently a disqualified MLA from his party, amidst of controversies and bypoll elections, he released a footage of deceased Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on December 20, 2017, showing her having a drink in hospital bed. Though it’s speculated to be footage of Apollo hospital where she was admitted for the last time, and took her last breath, there is no clear evidence when it’s actually shot. To release such a video just one day before bypoll, it invited a lot of controversies, debates and discussions, and alleged to be “ulterior motive” by politicians.

P. Vetriivel was born to M. PunniyaKotti Mudaliar. He holds a graduation degree, and is a businessman by profession. He is into Car & Real Estate business. Got elected to Tamil Nadu state assembly multiple times on AIDMK ticket, he belonged to those group of rebel MLAs who were disqualified this year following the year-long political drama. His rebellion was targeted to remove K. Palaniswamy from the post of CM, and stood with Panneerselvam. He once again came to limelight after the release of former Chief minister’s footage. Election Commission has filed a complaint against him for releasing a video of Jayalalithaa. Vetrivel had defended the release of the video, saying he did it on his own "out of mental agony”.
