P. K. Kunhalikutty Biography 
P. K. Kunhalikutty is an Indian politician from Malappuram, Kerala and leader of Indian Union Muslim League, associated with Indian national congress in State Politics. Served as a permanent member in Congress Cabinet for many terms, he currently serves as Minister for Industries and Information Technology in the Government of Kerala. He served as the Minister for Industries during the term 1991-1995, under the ministry of K. Karunakaran. He was one of the names accused in the infamous and long running sex scandal in Kerala state, Ice cream parlour sex scandal 1997. However in 2006, the Supreme Court dismissed the case citing lack of evidence.
He was born on 6 January 1951 at Oorakam in Malappuram District. Pandikkadavath Mohammed Haji and K. P. Fathima Kutty were his parents. His educational qualification includes a graduation in commerce and P.G. diploma in Business Management. He entered state politics through MSF and very soon became State Treasurer. He got actively involved in politics in the 1970s. One of the remarkable achievements includes his position as the Chairman of Malappuram Municipality in 1980, followed by Secretary of Kerala State Muslim League.
He got elected to Kerala Assembly for the first time in 1982, followed by 1987, 1991, 1996 and 2001. He is a prominent leader of state politics since early 1990s, when he served as a cabinet minister of K. Karunakaran during 1991 to 1995. In 1997 he got into the controversies of infamous Ice cream parlour sex scandal, which involved the death of two girls. He served as IT and Social Welfare Minister from 2001 to 2005, as well as Industries and Information Technology Minister in Oommen Chandy’s cabinet at present.
