P. C. Vishnunath Biography

P. C. Vishnunath is an Indian politician from the state of Kerala. He currently is a member of Indian National Congress. He is a former MLA of Chengannur constituency in the Kerala state legislative assembly. He has been elected from the same constituency two consecutive times since 2006. He holds an LLB from Kerala University, and completed his law studies from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram. He has served as the President of Kerala Youth Congress during 2010 -2013 and also President of Kerala Students Union during 2002-2006. Since 2017 he is serving as the Secretary of All India Congress Committee.

P. C. Vishnunath was born in Kottarakara of Kollam district. Mavadi is his birthplace. P Chellappan Pillai and Leela C Pillai are his parents and he was born on 30 March 1978. He is married to notable Kannada poet and theatre personality Kanaka Ha. Ma, and the couple has one daughter. He entered politics through Kerala Students Union. He served as the Unit Secretary of Devaswom Board College, Sasthamcotta in 1993, and later served many prominent positions in Youth Congress throughout 1990s and later.

He is one of the youngest politicians of the Congress party in the state, who became an MLA for the first time in 2006 at the age of only 27. He turned a legislator for the first time representing Indian National Congress and he got elected from Chengannur constituency. He retained the seat in 2012 state assembly elections too. However he was defeated by Advocate K.K Ramachandran Nair of CPI(M) by a margin of 7983 votes in 2016 Kerala assembly elections, when Congress Party received a major setback across all districts.
