P. C. George Biography

P. C. George is a controversial politician associated with Kerala regional politics, best known for his abusive language and derogatory comments, mostly against women. He currently serves as an MLA of Kerala State Legislature Assembly. He contested from Poonjar constituency in the Kottayam district in 2017 state assembly elections as an independent candidate and got elected too. Most recently in September 2018, he grabbed media eyes and also received nation-wide protest for publically calling a nun – the rape victim, a prostitute. Last year too he came with support for actor Dileep and gave some public statements against the actress who became a victim of sexual abuse.

P.C. George was born on 28 August 1951, at Aruvithura, in Erattupetta, Kottayam as the son of Planthottathil Chackochan and Mariamma. He belongs to a Syro-Malabar Catholic family. He is married to Usha George since 1981 and has two sons. One among his sons married Parvathy, the daughter of legendary comedian of Malayalam cinema, Jagathy Sreekumar. Usha is also an entrepreneur and businesswomen who runs a beauty parlour and tailoring shop at Erattupetta.

George’s entry to politics happened through Student’s wing during his teens. He served as Ernakulam District President of K.S.C in 1971. He actively participated in students’ agitations in the early 1970s and got arrested many times too. Later he joined state politics, and has been a member of Kerala Congress (M) for many years. He has been elected to state assembly in 1980, 1982, 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2016. He has been a very influential politician in state politics, but often caught in controversies for slip of the tongue. He served as Chief Whip of the Legislative Assembly during 18 May 2011 – 7 April 2015.
