Nitin Sardesai Biography

Nitin Sardesai is an Indian politician belonging to the regional party of Maharashtra, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). He served his first term as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 2009. Sardesai contested from the Mahim constituency of Mumbai and won the elections against actor-politician Aadesh Bandekar of Shiv Sena and Sadanand Saravankar of Indian National Congress. It was for the first time MNS contested state assembly elections and Nitin was fielded from Mahim constituency of Mumbai. However he was defeated in 2014 state assembly elections. He has been a close friend of Raj Thackeray, the founder and president of MNS, since college days.

 

Nitin Vijaykumar Sardesai was born in Maharashtra on 22 December 1963. He completed his bachelor in science subjects. He was into real estate business and owned a real estate company before he joined active politics. He owned an agency called "Matoshree Infrastructure" and his college friend Raj Thackeray was its partner. They remained close friends since college days, and when Maharashtra Navnirman Sena was founded on 9 March 2006 in Mumbai by Raj Thackeray after he left the Shiv Sena party due to differences with Uddhav Thackeray, Nitin too joined him.

 

Nitin was later appointed as the General Secretary and Chief Coordinator of MNS. He also serves as president of Hawai Karmachari Sena (HAKSE), the wing of MNS – a labour union in aviation sector. In 2009 MNS won 13 assembly seats in Maharashtra, and Nitin was one among the elected candidates representing the party. However he lost the seat in 2014 to Sadanand Sarvankar belonging to Congress party. Nitin is married and has one son, Yash Sardesai who is into business. He owns a real estate company as well as a chemical company.
