Naseem Uz Zafar Baquiri Biography

Dr. Naseem uz Zafar Baquiri is an Urdu poet, best known for the book - 'Ek Nukta Muskra Diya’, a collection of Nauha, Musaddas and Salam and Nazeer e Karbala. He is also a physician by profession. Apart from original works he has also done a few translation works, and also wrote lyrics for Doordarshan TV serials. Noted Urdu writer Ismat Chughtai once called him, "Premchand of Urdu Afsana Nigari". Similarly his works have been appreciated by many of his contemporary writers like Maujiz Sambhali. He translated Dr. Gurudas Das Gupta's Bengali play to Urdu as 'Naya Chand'.

Dr. Naseem uz Zafar Baquiri was born on 12 August 1952 in Syed Nagli, Hasanpur, present-day Uttar Pradesh. His father Murtaza Hasan was a freedom fighter from Bhopal. Naseem is youngest of six brothers. Two of his brothers are associated with activism and social work. He schooled from Sukhdevi Inter College Hasanpur, followed by Aggrawal Inter College. He graduated in science from Kedar Nath Girdharilal Khatri PG College Moradabad and BUMMS from A.K Tibbia College, affiliated to Aligarh Muslim University. He later completed M.D from Rajasthan University. He is a medical Practitioner right now, who is also interested in writing poetry and translating works.

Since college days, he was full engaged in writings. While studying at Aligarh Muslim University, he served as the secretary of Literary and cultural society. He was also an active member of Drama Club and Literary Club, and was fully involved in several students’ movements within the college campus. After studies he continued with his literal works and published a few. Musawwir Sabzwari - Fun aur Shair, Mai Abhi Wahan Se Aa Raha Hun and Ek Nukta Muskra Diya are his major works.
