Naresh Bedi Biography 
Naresh Bedi is an Indian filmmaker and wildlife photographer. The eldest of the Bedi Brothers, Naresh belongs to second generation of the family associated with art. His son Vijay Bedi belongs to the third generation of wildlife film makers and photographers from the family. For his contributions towards the field of Indian art and photography, government of India honoured him with Padma Shri in 2015. Multitalented personality, he was the first Indian to receive a nomination at British Academy Film Awards. He is the first Asian to receive a Wildscreen Panda Award too. CMS-UNEP Prithvi Ratna Award, Eastman Kodak Award, Classic Telly Award, International Wildlife Film Festival Award, Wildlife Asia Award, International Wild Track Africa Award and Whale Award are other major honours received by him.
Bedi hails from Haridwar, present-day Uttarakhand. His father Ramesh Bedi was a wildlife photographer and author of 74 books on this subject. Following his father’s footsteps, he developed interest in photography at a young age. His younger brother, Rajesh Bedi also followed the same suit. In his teens, Bedi got opportunity to cover an event and official visit by Jawaharlal Nehru. He conducted his first exhibition when he was only 19. Later he completed filmmaking course from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune with a gold medal.
Since 1970s Bedi got associated with his brother and they worked together for several projects for National Geographic, Stern and Geo. He made his first film, Cobra - The Snake God followed by Flying Prince of Wildlife, The Ganges Gharial etc. His documentary films were made on wild life, showcased in BBC and other channels, and he also won numerous awards for the same. He published 6 books on wild life including Wild Wonders, which he co-authored with his brother.
