Mohan Maharishi Biography 
Mohan Maharishi is an eminent theatre artist, known as a theatre director, playwright and actor. He is the former director of the prestigious National School of Drama, New Delhi during 1984-86. He is an NSD graduate, graduated in the year 1965. He received the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 'Direction' in 1992 and is most known for his revolutionary plays in Hindi. His successful and famous Einstein, Raja Ki Rasoi Vidyottama and Saanp Seedhi belong to this category. He is one of the best theatre personalities NSD has ever produced. He has spent more than 50 years in the field of Indian theatre and has also taught at IIT Kanpur and Delhi and many other institutions.
Mohan Maharishi was born on January 30, 1940 in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Soon after his graduation from Rajasthan University, he joined NSD, New Delhi and completed the course in 1965. He got guidance from Ebrahim Alkazi, a doyen of Indian theatre. After graduation later he was a part Sanket theatre group in Delhi and Jaipur. Through his plays as a director, producer and playwright he initiated a vibrant theatre movement working with students of the Rajasthan University. He has produced many path breaking plays during this period.
During his stay at Jaipur, he directed the plays of Bertolt Brecht, George Bernard Shaw, Henrik Ibsen and Durenmatt. He was appointed Producer, Doordarshan, New Delhi in the year 1970. Apart from several lirerary programs, he also interviewed many international celebrities for various programmes. In 1973 he quit his job and moved to Mauritius where he served as cultural advisor to the Prime Minister of Mauritius. After his return in 1979 he was fully active in theatre as a playwright, director and also a professor. He set up Natwa Theatre Society in Delhi after his retirement.
