Mohammed Fareeduddin Biography

Mohammed Fareeduddin is an Indian politician from Telangana state. He is a member of Telangana Legislative Council, and got elected to state assembly in 2016. He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Andhra Pradesh for ten years to 2009, representing the Zahirabad constituency. He represented Indian National Congress then. He lost 2009 state assembly elections after registering consecutive wins. Fareeduddin contested the Amberpet constituency and resulted in a loss. He became a cabinet minister in Y. S. R. Reddy’s government in 2004, where he held the portfolios of Minority Welfare and Fisheries till 2007. He became Minister for Co-Operation in April 2007.

 

Mohammed Fareeduddin was born on 14th October 1957 in Hothi B village of Andhra Pradesh. Currently he lives in Zaheerabad. Joined active politics in the 1990s, Mohammed Fareeduddin was elected to Andhra Pradesh state assembly for the first time in 1999, and he remained on power for next two terms till 2009. In 2009 state assembly elections, his constituency became reserved for candidates from the Scheduled Castes. When his party preferred to field J. Geeta Reddy as their candidate, he contested the Amberpet constituency. But he lost to G. Kishan Reddy of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

 

During 2014 state assembly elections, there were allegations that he encouraged his supporters in Zahirabad to vote for any party except the Indian National Congress. In 2014 he joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which demanded and protested for separate state, Telangana, and he was elected unopposed as TRS candidate in 2016. He won state assembly elections as well, thus joining first assembly of newly formed Telangana.
