Manu Bhandari Biography

Mannu Bhandari was born on April 3, 1931, in Bhanpura which is a town in Mandsaur district in the state of Madhya Pradesh. She attended did her initial schooling in Ajmer and graduated from Calcutta University a bachlor of Arts in 1949, and went on to complete her M.A. degree in Hindi from the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 1953.

Mannu Bhandari born April 3, 1931 is a prominent Indian author, most known for her two Hindi novels, 'Aapka Banti' and 'Mahabhoj' which was later adapted to an acclaimed play and performed all over the nation, including at the National Theatre Festival the Bharat Rang Mahotsav, at New Delhi. She is a famous story writer of Nai Kahani.

Mannu Bhandari is wife of well known Hindi writer Rajendra Yadav with whom she co-wrote the book, Ek Inch Muskaan (A Little Smile). Mannu Bhandari, is herself a well known writer in Hindi language who is best known for "Aapka Banti' and 'Mahabhoj' the two novels which made their impact on the literary world of India 'Mahabhoj' was later played in theaters all over the country and performed well.

Manu Bhandari's novel "Yahi Sach Hai" was converted into a film titled Rajnigandha. It won the  Best Movie Award in 1974 by Filmfare. She has done writing work in the field of Hindi films as dialogue writer and screenplay for the films like Swami and Samay Ki Dharaa. Manu Bhandari has written many story books.

Mannu Bhandari's works have been translated into many Indian languages and some have been adapted into films. Her story books Bina Deewaron ka Ghar, Trishanku, Nayak Khalnayak Vidushak, Teen Nigahon Ki Ek Tasveer, Teen Plat Sailab, Ek Kahani Yeh Bhi and Das Pritinidhi Kahaniyan etc are some of her collections of story books worth mentioning. Manu is credited for many famous movies by noted film makers of Indian film makers.
