M. Manikandan (politician) Biography

M. Manikandan is a politician from Tamil Nadu, and also a doctor by profession. He is a first time MLA of state legislature of Tamil Nadu at present, and currently serves as a cabinet minister too. He serves as the Minister of Information Technology since 2016, and is the second youngest minister to be sworn into the Tamilnadu Cabinet at present. He belongs to All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and currently represents Ramanathapuram constituency. He has represented the cabinet of J. Jayalalithaa, O. Panneerselvam as well as the current CM of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

 

Dr. Manikandan hails from Ramanthapuram, Tamil Nadu. He was born to S. Murugesan. He completed MBBS from Annamalai University. He also holds an MS degree. He is a fellow of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons (FIAGES). He has been popular among the district people of Ramanthapuram and known to be a loyal member of party too. That’s why Jayalalithaa picked him up for state assembly elections in 2016 to represent Ramanathapuram constituency. He registered victory by a huge margin of 33222, defeating incumbent MLA. His educational and professional background also helped him to bag a major win in the elections, as well as a cabinet position soon after Jayalalithaa sworn in as CM.

 

He assumed power as minister of Information Technology for the government of Tamil Nadu in 2016, and is known to be a progressive politician who implemented IT in different government sectors and projects of Tamil Nadu. The physician-turned-minister of Tamil Nadu, he is known to be one of the most eligible ministers at present.
