Kalamandalam Bindhulekha Biography 
Kalamandalam Bindhulekha is a mural painter from Kerala who paints on temple walls – a profession that’s rarely done by women. She is also a classical dancer who trained Mohiniyattam and Bharatnatyam in Kerala Kalamandalam and holds a diploma from both. Known to be men’s art, she is the first woman from Kerala who does mural paintings on temple walls. Contemporary patterns are associated with this young painter’s works. She also conducts art exhibitions regularly and most recently she exhibited her works at the exhibition in Durbar Hall Art Gallery, the first solo exhibition in Kochi. She is married to talented young director, Madhav Ramadasan known for the highly praised films – Melvilasom and Apothecary, both with Suresh Gopi playing the lead role.
She was born in 18 October 1978. She completed her graduation from Kerala Kalamandalam, with diplomas in Mohiniyattam and Bharatnatyam. Yet she chose the path of mural painting. She got attracted by the work of her brother-in-law, Sadanandan and that’s how she took training for six years and pursued her career and passion in this field. Though most of her works belong to traditional mural painting genre, she adds her own contemporary flavours to give it a modern feel. She experiments with new styles and unusual colours such as blue through her works and has completed 15 years in this field.
As a mural painter for temple works, she did her first work in Tiroor Vadakurumbakaavu temple of Thrissur district. It’s regarded to be the first mural work on temple walls done by a woman. She took two years to complete the work, which showed the three forms of Goddess. Her first exhibition on mural paintings was conducted in 2004 at Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art gallery, Thrissur. Apart from Kerala she has conducted exhibitions in Bangalore and Mumbai too.
