Geet Chaturvedi Biography

Geet Chaturvedi is a noted young poet, short story writer and novelist who writes in Hindi language. He was awarded the prestigious Bharat Bhooshan Award for poetry in 2007. He is equally verse in fiction work as well as critic and has a lot of fans following. He has published three books till now of which two are translation works. His books are Aalaap mein girah, Savant Anti Ki Ladkiyan and Pink Slip Daddy. His translation works include - Charlie Chaplin, A life and Chile Ke Jungalon se. Savant Auntie ki Larkiyan, Sahib Hai Rangrez and Gomootra are his most noted short stories and his novella Pink Slip Daddy (2009) is regarded as the one of the best Hindi fiction works in the recent times. Alienation, homogenization, betrayal in love and corporate life are the popular themes of his work.

 

In truth, Geet’s dream was to become a rock star. But later his attention was diverted to the world of words and short stories. Geet Chaturvedi is deeply influenced by world literature, world cinema and western classical music also. His prose and poetry are distinct combination of eastern and western world thus becoming one of the few urban writers of Hindi. He was deeply influenced by Vyasa, Borges and Shankaracharya. His stories are known for the luster of his poetic language.

 

His long poem Ubhaychar was published in 2010. Aalaap mein girahis was the first volume of his poems, which received good response and appreciation as well. He was awarded the Bharat Bhushan Agrawal Award in 2007 for his poem Mother India. The poem was later translated to 8 languages. Savant Anti Ki Ladkiyan is his first fiction book that consists of three novelettes. Pink Slip Daddy, published in 2010, is also a collection of three novellas.
