Gauri Jog Biography 
Gauri Jog is a Chicago based Kathak dancer and choreographer. She is of Nagpur origin. She as an exponent of Lucknow and Jaipur Gharana of Kathak dance form. She has also done fusion dance forms, and choreographed many dance dramas incorporating Bollywood steps and Yoga, apart from Flamenco, Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Mexican and American Ballet into Kathak form of dance. As a performer she has spent about 2 decades in the industry since 1999, and till now successfully staged more than 325 dance shows in North America and India. She also owns numerous students.
Gauri Jog hails from Nagpur, Maharashtra. Jog was born in 1970. She received initial training in Kathak from Guru Madan Pande of Lucknow Gharana. She emphasized on rhythmic footwork and its permutations, while studying under the guidance of this renowned guru. She later learnt Kathak dance from Lalita Hardas of Jaipur Gharana, and this time she concentrated on Abhinaya or acting. She continued studying from Madhurita Sarang of Mumbai. By that time she mastered Kathak dance form in two different and distinct styles, and her performances mostly include a combination of both, which he choreograph. She regularly attended workshops conducted by doyens of Kathak over the years.
As a dancer, she started her training at the age of 5 and gave her first performance at the age of 7. Apart from being regular with her stage performances, she also teaches students at Indian Dance School, a charitable organization based in Chicago to promote dance and fitness among teens and adults. The school imparts structured course in Indian Dance, Kathak and a few more dance forms. Her choreographed pieces such as Krishna Leela, East meets West, Fire - the Fiery Tale etc were well received.
