Eknath Khadse Biography

Eknath Khadse is an Indian politician and MLA from Maharashtra. He is a prominent leader of BJP in the state who has been most recently elected in Maharashtra state assembly elections. He got elected from Muktalnagar constituency. He is currently the leader of opposition of the state. He has served as Finance minister and state irrigation ministry was also added to his portfolio, when Shiv Sena - BJP alliance ruled the state. He was elected as Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in November 2009. He represented Bodwad-Muktainagar constituencies and has been elected 5 consecutive terms. 

Eknath was born in Kothali village of Muktainagar tehsil of Jalgaon district. He was born into an agriculture family. He started his political career in the 1980s with college union elections and got selected to state assembly for the first time in 1989 from Muktainagar constituency. Since then he has been elected for 5 terms consecutively. He is known for taking many burning topics of Maharashtra in the state assembly and is known as a prominent leader of farmers’ issues. As a prominent BJP leader of the state, he stands out in assembly session by his speech. He has also served as sarpanch of kothali village in 1987, before he actively joined state politics. 

He works with Muktainagar vidhansabha khsetra and always associated with farmers’ welfare programs. He has completed 30 years of his legislative career. An elected member of 5 terms from Muktalnagar constituency, he is a prominent leader of BJP from Maharashtra politics since 1990s. In 2013, his son Nikhil Khadase committed suicide. He was depressed.
