D. K. Shivakumar Biography 
D. K. Shivakumar is an Indian politician from Karnataka, belonging to Indian national Congress. He currently served as a member of legislative assembly of Karnataka, and also a cabinet minister of H. D. Kumaraswami, S. M. Krishna and S. Bangarappa at different points of time. He is the current irrigation minister of Karnataka, who assumed power on 6 June 2018. He currently represents Kanakapura constituency in state legislature. Under Siddaramaiah Ministry, he has served as Minister of Energy. A 6-term MLA of Karnataka, he is nicknamed tiger of Sathanur. He's a man who keeps his vow of serving the Congress "in sickness and in health."
He is one of the most powerful and influential Congress politicians in the regional political scene of Karnataka state. He is also among the richest politicians in Karnataka. In 2018 he played a magnificent role in the formation of the coalition government of Indian National Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka, following the crisis. His brother D. K. Suresh is also a well-known politician and parliamentarian who currently represents Bangalore Rural constituency of Karnataka in the 16th Lok Sabha.
Doddalahalli Kempegowda Shivakumar was born on 15 May 1962 in Kanakapura, Mysore State. He remained a faithful member of Congress since his early days in politics. He held the portfolios - Prisons and Homeguards under S. Bangarappa’s ministry during 17 October 1990 – 19 November 1992, Urban Development under S. M. Krishna during 11 October 1999 – 20 May 2004, Energy under Siddaramaiah during 1 January 2014 – 19 May 2018, and currently holds the portfolios, Major Irrigation and Medical Education. While filing his nomination for election in 2018, he declared his total assets as 840 crores. From Sathanur to Kanakapura, Shivakumar has faced several corruption charges, multiple times.
