Conrad Sangma Biography 
Conrad Sangma is an Indian politician from the north-east state of Meghalaya, who currently serves as the Chief Minister of the state, and also finance minister. He is the 12th CM of Meghalaya who formed state government on 6 March 2018 representing National People's Party. He is the son of veteran and senior politician and former Chief Minister Purno Sangma, and assumed presidency of the National People's Party in 2016 following his death. In the 8th Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, he served as leader of opposition. He also served as Finance Minister of Meghalaya in 2008–2009 under the leadership of his father, becoming the youngest Meghalaya minister to serve this position.
Conrad Kongkal Sangma was born on 27 January 1978 into a politically influential family of Meghalaya. He is the son of popular leader and former CM, P. A. Sangma. Sangma started his political career in the late 1990s associated with Nationalist Congress Party, campaigning for his father. In 2008 state elections he got elected to state assembly for the first time along with his brother, and was given the portfolio, Finance. He was only 30 when he took over the power thus becoming the youngest finance minister of Meghalaya.
Sangma held the post of Leader of Opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly during 2009-2013, when his father lost power. Following the death of his father in 2016, he was elected national president of NCP and he won by-elections in 2016. In 2018 he successfully contested state assembly elections, and formed a new government. His party came second behind Indian National Congress winning 19 seats. NPP allied with other regional parties taking a total count of 34 seats to form the government.
