Chandril Bhattacharya Biography

Chandril Bhattacharya is a popular columnist, lyricist, poet, singer and director from Kolkata. He is one of the main lyricists of the Bengali band Chandrabindoo and occasionally sings for his band as well. His lyrics normally fall under satire category. Chandril, together with Anindya Chatterjee won the 2010 National Film Award for Best Lyrics for the song "Pherari Mon" in the film Antaheen (2009). His collection of poetries has been published titled - Dhur Dhur A Porobaase Ke Thakbe and Ugo Bugo Chouko Chugo. He has published his bi-weekly Sunday columns of Anandabazar Patrika, titled Uttam Madhyom and collection of seven articles published early in Robbar Pratidin, titled, Ha Ha Hi Hi Ho Ho O Onyanyo. He has directed one short film, Y2K (Athoba, 'Sex Krome Aasitechhe') with its music by his own band.

Chandril is a noted columnist of many newspapers and journals and also popular with his film lyrics and books. He completed undergraduate degree in economics from Scottish Church College and M.Sc. from the University of Calcutta. He married Sanchari Mukherjee in 2006. Hi column "Uttam Madhyam" for Anandabazar Patrika on alternate Sundays made him a popular columnist. Later he published those columns as a book. Later his feature, "Du Chhokka Pnach" appeared in the weekly Robbar Pratidin. He viewed social norms and national and international current affairs in a satire way.

Chandrabindoo is a Bangla rock band from Kolkata. Chandril Bhattacharya is the main lyricists of this Bengali rock band. Other members of this band include – Anindhya Chatterjee, Upal Sengupta, Surojit Mukherjee, Arup Poddar, Sibabrata Biswas, Thirthankar, Rajshekhar Kundu and Sourabh. The band is known for satire and colloquial lyrics written by none other than Chandril Bhattacharya that form the boost of the group. This group has conducted stage shows both India and abroad.
