C. Laxma Reddy Biography

C. Laxma Reddy is an Indian politician from Telangana who is the current Health Minister of Telangana in the state legislative assembly. He is a Homeopathic Doctor too, who is currently active in politics. He is the Member of Legislative Assembly for Jadcherla constituency representing Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Earlier he served as the first Energy minister, before his portfolio was changed to health. He assumed office as MLA on December 17, 2014. He owns a long political journey since his younger days.

Dr. Charlakola Laxma Reddy was born on 3 February 1962 in Jadcherla. He completed his Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medical Sciences from Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society, Gulbarga, and after that he started his practice. During his college days as a medical student, he was quite active in student politics, and got elected as Union president. After completing his graduation he practiced at Jadcherla before entering into politics. He started his political career as a sarpanch of his village, Avancha, and slowly climbed the ladder till he joined the state cabinet.

When K. Chandrashekhar Rao launched the party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi in 2001 he joined it. Since then he was fully associated with the party, campaigning in state elections and later holding key positions within the party. He won from Jadcherla Constituency in 2004 Assembly Elections. He resigned the post on KCR’s call. He was the only MLA of TRS party from Mahabubnagar District where the Telangana movement was not prominent. Dr. Reddy also played a major role in the victory of KCR as he was only TRS leader in Mahabubnagar. In 2014 Assembly elections, he was re-elected from Jadcherla, and was given a cabinet power.
