Bhagwant Mann Biography

Bhagwant Mann is a comedian from Punjab and politician belonging to Aam Aadmi Party, who currently serves as the Member of Parliament since 2014. He was elected to the parliament from Sangrur constituency. Mann is quite a familiar face to Punjabi audience through the comedy shows on television and stage. His shows focus on Indian social issues such as politicians, policemen, business departments, and sports. Successfully associated with Jagtar Jaggi for a decade, later he was associated with Rana Ranbir. In these collaborations he has released many comedy albums apart from shows on television and live performances. He participated in Great Indian Laughter Challenge on Star Plus which earned him nationwide attention.

Bhagwant Mann was born on 17 October 1973 in Satauj village of Sangrur district. He gained attention and popularity through the Punjabi comedy skits which he performed on stage apart from TV shows. His career as a comedian started during his academic years when he used to participate in comedy competitions at college and inter-college competitions. He won two gold medals from Punjabi University during his academic years. His comedy album in Punjabi - "Kulfi Garma Garm" was a major success and established him as a comedy star.

Since his first album, he had a long collaboration with Jagtar Jaggi which proved to be successful. They formed a successful combination in the 1990s. Later Jaggi felt that he was not credited for what he actually deserves, thus resulting in the end of partnership. Jugnu Kehnda Hai on Alpha ETC Punjabi was a popular show of this duo. Later he collaborated with Rana Ranbir and has done many successful shows like Jugnu Mast Mast for Alpha ETC Punjabi. He joined People's Party of Punjab in 2011 and later joined Aam Aadmi Party in 2014 to successfully contest for the Lok Sabha seat from Sangrur.
