Bashir Mehtaab Biography

Bashir Mehtaab is a young Urdu poet from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Within a short time span, he has earned immense popularity among the people, and he is only 24 now. He is the only Urdu poet from Ramban district whose poetry has been uploaded on Rekhta, the famous Urdu poetry website, publishes the selected gazals and couplets of Mehtaab. He usually publishes his content on his personal blog, and his works also appear in online sites like Aruuz, Urdu Point and OnlineUrdu. He is yet to publish his poetry collection as a book, though his poems appear in magazines.

Bashir Mehtaab is the penname of Muhammad Bashir, a native of Ramban in Jammu & Kashmir. Paristan (Pogal) is his native place and he was born on 14 March 1994. He started writing Urdu poems at an early age, and he also published his works in local magazines apart from his personal blog. He completed his schooling in 2010 from Ramban. As a young Shayar, he is quite popular in Urdu mushairas where he recites his poetry works. He is regular at both state level and national Urdu mushairas, and is slowly gaining recognition among the masses in his early 20s.

Most recently when All India Urdu Mushaira was held at Abhinav Theatre in Jammu on 28th January, 2019, he was privileged to be selected as one of the 24 Urdu poets from all over India to recite his poetry at the gathering. The function was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art. He also works towards the promotion of Urdu language in his state, Jammu and Kashmir.
