Bandi Sanjay Kumar Biography

Bandi Sanjay Kumar is an Indian politician from the state of Telangana, affiliated to Bharatiya Janata Party. He currently serves as a parliamentarian in the 17th Lok Sabha headed by Narendra Modi and represents Karimnagar constituency. It is his first term as parliamentarian. He obtained his master's degree in Public Administration in 2014 from Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu. He was serving as a municipal corporator for Karimnagar's 48th division for long 14 years when he got elected to Lok Sabha for the first time.

Bandi was born on 11 July 1971 to B. Narsaiah and Sakuntala. He hails from Karimnagar, Telangana. His early education was done from his hometown. He joined RSS at the age of 12, and has been associated with this youth wing since then. He became town president and a state executive member of the organization. He was also involved in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in those days. Later he climbed up the ladder within the different positions of the party and was elected a municipal corporator for Karimnagar's 48th division in 2005, a position he held till 2019. He resigned his position to become Member of Parliament.

Bandi has contested state assembly elections twice in 2014 and 2018 as a candidate of BJP, both from Karimnagar. However he lost both these times to Telangana Rashtra Samiti's Gangula Kamalakar. In 2019 he made his first attempt to join Lok Sabha and got elected from Karimnagar constituency. He was 48 years of age when he got elected defeating Telangana Rashtra Samiti's B. Vinod Kumar, and the Indian National Congress' Ponnam Prabhakar. Bandi was elected by a margin of 89,508 votes, which was a shocking surprise to many, who never expected his win.
