Bandi Rajan Babu Biography 
Bandi Rajan Babu was an Indian photographer from undivided Andhra Pradesh, best known for his black and white pictures of tribal people. He also owned the Rajan School of Photography. He received the APRS honor in 1983 from Belgium – his first international honour followed by Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society in 1987. He is the only Fellow of Royal Photographic Society from the Indian Telugu speaking states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He was also a recipient of numerous national and international awards for his excellence in the art of photography. This legendary artist passed away on 25 August 2011 aged 73.
Bandi Rajan Babu was born on 9 February 1938 in Korutla, in the Karimnagar district of present-day Telangana. He studied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. Initially his dream was to become a painter. However when one of his cousins presented him with a Kodak camera while studying in 7th grade, he causally clicked many photos. His photos were appreciated by relatives and friends, and it was only a beginning, and hobby. He seriously involved with camera and photography while he was a student at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. He joined the five-year diploma course in commercial art.
It was year 1960 when he got inspired by Raja Triambak Raj Bahadur, a pioneer in pictorial photography. Very soon he switched from paint brush to camera. After studies he started his professional career as a lecturer at JNTU Fine Arts College. Later he established a school for ‘pictorial photography'. As a photographer, he has done fashion photography, pictorial, as well as industrial and advertising photography. Yet he was appreciated most for vintage photos of tribal people. The master of pictorial photography, he was brought up in a rural background and came to be recognised on global platforms.
