Archana Pandey (politician) Biography

Archana Pandey is an Indian politician from Uttar Pradesh, associated with Bhartiya Janta Party. A well-known leader associated with state politics, she currently serves as minister of State (Mining, Excise, and Prohibition). She currently represents Chhibramau constituency of UP. Archana was born into a family of politicians. Her father Ram Prakash Tripathi remained a popular leader associated with BJP. A 4-time MLA, he has also been elected to Lok Sabha once. Archana has been elected to state assembly two times in a row.

Archana Pandey hails from a political family of Uttar Pradesh. She holds a graduation in English from University of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. She completed her graduation in the year 1980. She is married to a businessman, Rajesh Prakash Pandey and the couple has two children. Initially she worked in public as a basic social worker before she was inducted to politics. She owns 25 years of experience in social works and active politics.

She contested state assembly elections for the first time in 2012, which she won. She got seat from Chhibaramau, the same constituency where she contested for a second time in 2017. She defeated her nearest competitor Tahir Hussain Siddiqui of BSP by 37,224 votes. This time she received the portfolio of Mining, Excise, and Prohibition in the cabinet of Yogi Adityanath.

A well-known social worker, she held many elite administrative positions throughout many years. The director of Gramin Bank, member of consumer forum of six years and member of Samaj Kalyan Board (UP) are some of the posts she held earlier. Currently Archana is a member of working committee from BJP, Uttar Pradesh.
